e-Learning Portals
A learning portal means, that you cannot only read
like in a book (or on homepages and web-sites in
the Internet); in a portal you ususally find different
aspects and elements of learning, like at least reading,
hearing, talking, (co)operating,
evaluating.
The learner decides: Open distance
learning
|
You have arbitrary access to all information
and learning materials, you even select the time
of learning, you decide for the place of
learning and you select a desired depth and
width of information.
|
This open distance learning means however
that you are left alone with all components of the
education process; nobody but you steers, plans,
supervised and controls the acquisitions. This must
not lead to problems, however in this form of eLearning
you are very strongly self-responsible
Because of these possible problems there
is a major investigations in distance learning via WWW:
Blended learning
|
Blended learning is a mix or a combination
from learning lessons in attendance and learning
via internet.
Such kind of learning can be extremely
effective, because you combine the strengths of
the different media: in the Internet you
distribute information and contents and in the
traditional seminar you are concerned with the
core-tasks, the transfer into the action and
behavior repertoire of the participants.
|
But there is another feature of blended learning,
that gives full support to this kind of learning.
The philosophy is: transfering the advantages of face
to face-seminars into internet-seminars - by putting
social presence into the virtual seminar. Social
presence is built through the Tutur or Coach.
Coach, tutor and the team
|
The tutor (or sometimes the coach) has
usually three tasks: he cares for the individual
participants individually, he arranges the
interface between the participants and
educational facility and he cared for net-based
groups of learning. These tasks are central for
the success of net-based efforts of education.
Without support from a coach or a tutor
there will be no successful teamwork
in the net. |
