Hard skills of the Tutor

First of all media competencies

Of special importance for the qualification of eTutors is the development of a comprehensive medial competence or sovereignity. Lots of publications reduce media competence to the technical handling of the necessary hard and software. Handling the technology is not the primary target but rather a means for virtual communication on the basis of which additional abilities and capabilities have to be gained and developed. Online tutors thus have to be able to use the hard and software in a pedagogically reflected way.

media competencies can be split into

use of media and design of media

media critique and media knowledge

they build the area of target orientation)

(they build the dimension of exchange)

An important part of the media-competent action abilities of an eTutor relies on special abilities in using the Internet, security in using the hard and software, knowledge about the infrastructure and the use of the learning platform as well as about the medial design, restructuring and the influence of medially transferred information and contents.

This means that media competence includes technological and pedagogical aspects which are specified according to eTutors in detail in the following.
